Engineering work is taking place between Newport, Cardiff Central and Bridgend, closing some lines.

Buses will replace trains between Newport and Cardiff Central, taking approximately 40 minutes.
Great Western Railway
Buses will replace trains between Newport, Cardiff Central and Bridgend. Please allow for an extended journey time of up to 50 minutes.
Some Great Western Railway services will also be amended to start from / terminate at Bristol Temple Meads or Bristol Parkway.
On Sunday night, some buses will be extended to Swansea.

Buses replace trains between Newport and Cardiff Central.
Until 12:30:
Services to / from Swansea (and beyond) will be amended to start / terminate at Bridgend instead of Cardiff Central. A replacement bus service will run between Bridgend and Cardiff Central.
Until 12:40:
Services between Rhymney / Ystrad Mynach and Cardiff Central will be replaced by buses, and services to / from Barry Island / Bridgend will be amended to run to / from Ninian Park. Replacement buses will run between Cogan and Cardiff Central.

Project Information:
Network Rail are electrifying the line between London and Cardiff - a major part of the Railway Upgrade Plan. This will result in the introduction of bi-mode trains - trains that can run on electric and diesel - providing extra seats and faster services for thousands of passengers and a quieter and greener environment for lineside neighbours.
The South Wales Mainline runs from the Severn Tunnel in Monmouthshire, through Newport, Cardiff, Bridgend, Port Talbot, Neath and Swansea.
