Alterations to services through Lewisham on Monday 21 October

During a regular safety check of the line early on Saturday morning, Network Rail engineers identified a piece of defective track that needed repairs near Lewisham. Temporary repairs were made during the morning so that trains could run over the track with a speed restriction, but further repairs are needed to remove the restriction. These repairs will take approximately 6 hours, and begin at 23:00 on Monday night and all lines through Lewisham station will need to be closed.

Until then, the speed restriction will be in place and minor delays may occur to Bexleyheath line trains running through Lewisham.

How does this affect my journey?

During the morning and evening rush hour on Monday, some services will be unable to stop at Lewisham and some will be cancelled as we are unable to run the full timetable across the section of track with the speed restriction in place.

On Monday night, from 23:00 no trains will be able to stop at Lewisham, and trains will be unable to run on the Bexleyheath Line.

Woolwich Line trains will be diverted to run via Greenwich, and most Bexleyheath line trains will run via Sidcup instead.

The last train from Victoria to Dartford will be the 22:36 Victoria to Dartford. After this you will need to use Charing Cross, London Bridge or Cannon Street for trains to Dartford.

What do I need to do?

You will be able to use the following other routes at no extra cost to help you complete your journey:

• London Underground between Victoria, Charing Cross, Embankment, Cannon Street, Blackfriars, London Bridge, Southwark and Waterloo.
• London Buses between Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye, Nunhead & Lewisham, London Bridge, New Cross, Ladywell, Hither Green and routes towards Dartford for stations on the Bexleyheath, Sidcup & Woolwich lines.
• Docklands Light Railway between Lewisham, Greenwich & Woolwich Arsenal.
• London Overground between Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye & New Cross via Surrey Quays
• Thameslink between London Bridge, Denmark Hill Nunhead & Peckham Rye via Blackfriars.

 

We are working to arrange replacement buses to run between Hither Green and Dartford via Lewisham and Bexleyheath. Once these are confirmed details will be posted here and in the Journey Planner.

You can check your journey for tomorrow morning and between 23:00 and midnight in the Journey Planner now. Alterations for tomorrow evenings rush hour services will be available in the Journey planner later today, and journeys after midnight will be available after 04:00 on Monday morning.
