While Grand Central prides ourselves on providing cost-effective travel to communities across the North East and Yorkshire, we know that sometimes our customers may find their local stations more convenient. That's why we've worked with our sister company CrossCountry, as well as Northern and Transpennine Express in order to provide connecting fares between the following stations and London Kings Cross.
FAQs
How do connecting fares work?
Connecting fares provide you with a flexible ticket you can use on the day of your journey to travel from one of the stations listed above to a station served by Grand Central, saving you money versus buying Anytime Return tickets.
How can I buy Grand Central & Connections fares?
For the best value, Connecting fares can be bought on our website using the "Find your train" panel to the left. By booking in Advance, you can save up to 80% on the cost of your travel, and Grand Central will never charge you a booking fee. Alternatively, they are available anywhere else train tickets are sold.
I can't see a connecting fare
If you are unable to see a connecting fare in your journey results, enter the corresponding Grand Central station from the table above in the "via" section of the "via/avoid" options.
Restrictions
Grand Central & Connections fares are only available on Grand Central Advance purchases and cannot be offered with Anytime or Off-Peak return ticket types. Connecting tickets are valid at any time on the day of purchase and may not include specific seat reservations.
Which trains can I travel on?
Your Grand Central ticket is Advance and therefore only valid on the booked service. Your connecting ticket will allow you to travel on any applicable Northern, CrossCountry or Transpennine Express service between your origin and connecting stations. Travel via other train operators is not currently permitted.
