We are only able to sell Advance tickets for specific services, and these are physically limited by the number of seats on board – we cannot sell more tickets than there are seats. However, customers are free to purchase Anytime or Off-Peak tickets, which allow them to travel on any valid journey, regardless of reservations. There is no limit on how many of these can be sold and operators are required by the National Rail Conditions of Travel to carry all passengers with valid tickets.
