What’s on in February?

Jorvik Viking Festival

The Christmas tree has gone to be recycled, the decorations are back in the loft and the kids are back to school (huge sigh of relief).

Although January is often seen as a tough month for many of us, it’s also the start of a brand new year, new beginnings and is a great time to start planning adventures and experiences.

To ease you in gently, we have listed a few fun things to do this February. And, of course, each destination is easily accessible using a Grand Central train service, so you can start planning your travel arrangements in advance to get you there on time.

Fashion Weekend

  • 27th Feb – 1st March 2020
  • Please note, Grand Central trains are not running on 29th February and 1st March

Victoria House, London

Tired of the January sales and seeing the same things on the rails? Wanting to pick up some spring/summer wardrobe essentials at a fraction of the usual retail price? If so, then a trip to Fashion Weekend is definitely on the cards for you this Feb.

Hosted at the stunning Victoria House for four style-filled days, Fashion Weekend will welcome a whole host of designer brands – from iconic names such as Burberry and Kenzo, to the cool independent brands such as Clemmie Rose, French Sole and Zelle Studio.

You can shop ‘til you drop with discounts of up to 70% while having a fun day out with friends in a cool sociable environment.

Don’t forget to book your event tickets soon and also your train tickets to London King’s Cross station, which is only a short journey away from the venue.

Jorvik Viking Festival

  • 15th – 23rd Feb 2020

This Feb sees the 36th annual Viking Festival celebrations hosted in the nostalgic city of York. If you are a fan of the Viking era, then this is certainly an event you don’t want to miss. With a week-long programme of events including workshops, talks, markets and live performances, there is something for every age group to get involved in.

This years’ theme is Voyage of the Vikings, so expect to find out all about the tradings, raidings and discoveries made by the Vikings as they travelled the globe from Scandinavia thousands of years ago.

Head to York Train station to begin your Viking adventure.

Winter Gardens Open Day

  • 27th February

The Winter Gardens is a world-famous entertainment landmark located in the heart of buzzing Blackpool that has welcomed celebrity stars from One Direction to Frank Sinatra and Peter Kay.

This February, the Winter Gardens will once again host an access-all-areas event, giving you an exclusive chance to delve into every corner of the Grade 2 listed building at your leisure.

Head backstage to see where the stars hang out before their performance and visit the dressing rooms to see where the hair and make-up teams perform their magic.

Entrance is free so don’t miss out on this rare opportunity for a snoop around this famous venue.

Milton Keynes

Although the kids have just gone back to school, there’s only around 6 weeks to go until February half term comes around! So, why not plan ahead some fun to keep the little ones entertained and educated at the same time.

If you are located around South East of England, then the Milton Keynes Museum will be hosting a calendar of half term events, suitable for kids of all ages to enjoy. The Hall of Transport will keep young motoring enthusiast happy, while mini detectives can try their hand at sending Morse code.
