What’s on in February?
The Christmas tree has gone to be recycled, the decorations are back in the loft and the kids are back to school (huge sigh of relief).
Although January is often seen as a tough month for many of us, it’s also the start of a brand new year, new beginnings and is a great time to start planning adventures and experiences.
To ease you in gently, we have listed a few fun things to do this February. And, of course, each destination is easily accessible using a Grand Central train service, so you can start planning your travel arrangements in advance to get you there on time.

Jorvik Viking Festival

This Feb sees the 36th annual Viking Festival celebrations hosted in the nostalgic city of York. If you are a fan of the Viking era, then this is certainly an event you don’t want to miss. With a week-long programme of events including workshops, talks, markets and live performances, there is something for every age group to get involved in.
This years’ theme is Voyage of the Vikings, so expect to find out all about the tradings, raidings and discoveries made by the Vikings as they travelled the globe from Scandinavia thousands of years ago.

Winter Gardens Open Day

The Winter Gardens is a world-famous entertainment landmark located in the heart of buzzing Blackpool that has welcomed celebrity stars from One Direction to Frank Sinatra and Peter Kay.
This February, the Winter Gardens will once again host an access-all-areas event, giving you an exclusive chance to delve into every corner of the Grade 2 listed building at your leisure.
Head backstage to see where the stars hang out before their performance and visit the dressing rooms to see where the hair and make-up teams perform their magic.
Entrance is free so don’t miss out on this rare opportunity for a snoop around this famous venue.
Half Term fun at Milton Keynes Museum

Although the kids have just gone back to school, there’s only around 6 weeks to go until February half term comes around! So, why not plan ahead some fun to keep the little ones entertained and educated at the same time.
If you are located around South East of England, then the Milton Keynes Museum will be hosting a calendar of half term events, suitable for kids of all ages to enjoy. The Hall of Transport will keep young motoring enthusiast happy, while mini detectives can try their hand at sending Morse code.
Whether it’s raining or surprisingly sunny, a day out at the museum is sure to earn some parent brownie points during the holidays.
