There was a fault with the signalling system yesterday at Ely. This is disrupting East Midlands Railway trains on the Liverpool / Nottingham / Norwich route.
Network Rail have confirmed the fault was a faulty cable and this has now been replaced.
The line re-opened overnight however there are pre-planned engineering works taking place between Peterborough and Grantham this weekend and so due to the earlier problem at Ely, East Midlands Railway were unable to get all of their trains through to Norwich before the line closed.
This means East Midlands Railway are unable to run their full shuttle service between Ely and Norwich this weekend and there will be a lot of cancellations as East Midlands Railway only have 1 train able to run back and forth between Ely and Norwich instead of the planned 2.  Â
Services will be affected for the rest of the weekend so please make sure to check your journey before you travel.
How does this affect my train?Â
Trains will run between Liverpool Lime Street / Nottingham and Grantham and also between Ely and Norwich.
The trains between Liverpool / Nottingham and Grantham will run normally.
The trains between Ely and Norwich will be reduced and there are many cancellations so please allow extra time to travel.
