A train has come to a stand at Cowden after hitting an obstruction on the track. This is blocking the line in both directions between Uckfield and Oxted. Trains may need to be cancelled at short notice, or revised to only complete parts of their normal journeys.

Southern are looking into alternative arrangements for those requiring these stations and have requested rail replacement buses for this area. Once we get confirmation of these, we will publish this information. Please be aware that your journey will be extended by at least 30 minutes. We recommend you checking journey planners and station information screens before you travel.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
There has been a report of an obstruction on the railway near Hever, and this is now causing some disruption to services. Your train may be held on approach to the area, or it may need to be terminated before it gets to this part of the network.
Network Rail staff will be attending to remove the obstruction as quickly as they can. Unfortunately, it's not possible to try to run trains past this between Oxted and Uckfield. We're closely monitoring progress updates.
