Industrial action is taking place on several dates in December 2022 and January 2023, affecting LNER services. 48 hour strikes will take place on the dates below:
- Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 December 2022
- Friday 16 and Saturday 17 December 2022
- Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 January 2023
- Friday 6 and Saturday 7 January 2023
Additionally, there has been further strike action announced over the Christmas period which will take place from 18:00 on Saturday 24 December until 06:00 on Tuesday 27 December 2022.
December 2022:
LNER will be operating a significantly reduced timetable on 13, 14, 16 and 17 December. Service will start later than normal and finish earlier than normal. There will also be changes to the timetable on the day before (12 December), between (15 December) and after (18 December) the strikes. LNER recommend to avoid travelling during the period of the strikes. âââââââ
January 2023:

The National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner is not yet showing the strike day services for the national industrial action dates. Timetables are expected to be showing the correct strike day service levels by the following dates:
- For travel from 13 to 16 December, the Journey Planner will be correct on 9 December
- For travel on 17 December, the Journey Planner will be correct on 13 December
- For travel on 18 December, the Journey Planner will be correct on 14 December
- For travel on 24, 26 and 27 December, please check back here closer to the time of travel
