Due to a fault with the signalling system at Woking, trains through the station may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 17:00.
What We're Doing About It:
We have been informed that there is a track circuit failure at Woking. This means that trains will have to run at a reduced speed on all lines towards London Waterloo.
Until further notice the following alterations will be necessary:
Some services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth stations via Guildford, might be diverted via an alternative route between these stations meaning they won't be able to call at Woking.
To assist you with your journey your ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost to yourself, on the following services:
- Great Western Railway services between Guildford and Reading and between Basingstoke and Reading only.
- Southern services between London Victoria / Clapham Junction and Portsmouth Harbour / Southampton Central
- CrossCountry services between Bournemouth and Reading
For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.
Further Information:
A track circuit is one system used by signallers to identify where trains are on the tracks. When these fail, trains have to stop at each affected signal and verify that the track beyond the signal is clear. Once they have authority from the Signaller to continue, they must do so at caution until they have traversed that signalling section. This process takes up to 10 minutes per affected signal.
