A fault with the signalling system at Haywards Heath is causing disruption to journeys through this station. As a result of this, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

This is expected until 20:00.

Customer Advice

Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink trains are being delayed when heading southbound (towards Brighton and the coast) in the Haywards Heath area.

You can still use your normal route for your journey, but please leave around 25 minutes of additional time.

Some late-running trains may be revised to stop at fewer stations en route. There may also be a few cancellations, and some delays to return journeys heading northbound from the coast.

We recommend you check a journey planner before you go to the station this evening.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Network Rail engineers have reported there is a signalling problem affecting trains at Haywards Heath, mainly through Platform 2. Unfortunately this is causing congestion in the area, as drivers need to stop and gain verbal instructions before they continue.

We are expecting that specialist staff will be granted access to the track towards the middle of this evening, in order to safely undertake repair works. Until then, there will continue to be delays.
