There are multiple incidents on-going across parts of the Southern and Thameslink network.
As a result of this, trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes. Disruption is expected until 12:30.
Customer Advice:
There is disruption to Southern & Thameslink services this morning on routes between Brighton, Southampton, Portsmouth and Horsham. Journey times could be extended by approximately 30 minutes, and you may have to change more often than normal.
Your ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost, on the following:
- Brighton and Hove Buses on any reasonable route between Brighton, Hove and Shoreham-by-Sea
- Stagecoach 700 buses between Brighton, Worthing, Chichester and Portsmouth
- There is mutual ticket acceptance between Southern and both South Western Railway and Great Western Railway
- METROBUS services via any reasonable route
This means you can use the first available train in the correct direction, changing trains where necessary.
The following incidents have disrupted our service:
Hove - Worthing
Earlier today, there were difficulties finishing engineering works between Hove and Worthing. Lines have since reopened, and trains are now running on this line but this has led to a number of delays and alterations to trains which run between these stations.
Hilsea
Network Rail response staff are dealing with a signalling fault in the Hilsea area. Until this is resolved, the capacity for trains is much-reduced. Some Southern services will be unable to run to & from Portsmouth.
In total, it is expected that only one Southern train per hour will run in each direction on this route. Trains that are running will not stop at Hilsea in the direction of Fareham / Chichester. Passengers at this station that need to travel in this direction should board a train to Fratton and catch a return service.
Other trains will divert onto different routes, such as the route to & from Bognor Regis, or terminate before they get to the area.
South Western Railway and Great Western Railway will also run a reduced service.
Pulborough - Billingshurst
The line between Pulborough and Billingshurst is closed due to flooding. Southern are working to get some trains running either side of the block, but this may take some time.
