Due to a fault with the signalling system at Ely trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Network Rail have confirmed the fault is a faulty cable and will need replacing.  We are still awaiting an estimate of when staff are expected to arrive.

How does this affect my train?
Trains running through the area in both directions cannot run through Ely.
The service is expected to be suspended between Peterborough and Norwich until the fault is fixed.
At present we now have no estimate of when the cable is expected to be repaired. As soon as the repairs take place our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again.

Travelling to/from Norwich towards Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool
You should use your ticket to travel via London with Greater Anglia between London Liverpool Street and Norwich and with EMR between London St Pancras, Nottingham and Sheffield.  This is expected to extend your journey time by around 2 hours.

Travelling between Peterborough, Ely and Norwich
You should use your ticket to travel via London with GTR Great Northern or LNER and with Greater Anglia between London Liverpool Street and Norwich and with EMR between London St Pancras, Nottingham and Sheffield.  This is expected to extend your journey time by around 2 hours.
Great Northern
Services are unable to run between Cambridge and Kings Lynn until further notice.
Services will terminate and restart elsewhere, for instance at Cambridge.
Please delay travelling until later today. If you do travel now then your journey will be extended by at least 60 minutes, so please allow extra time for your journey.
At the moment alternative journey options are very limited, as other operators that run through the area have also been affected by this. Replacement buses have been requested and we'll provide further details on these once confirmed.

Greater Anglia
Due to a fault with the signalling system at Ely, services on the following routes are having to run at a much reduced safe speed and are consequently suffering from disruption:Â
- Ipswich - Peterborough
- Norwich - Cambridge
- Ely - Liverpool Street
- Norwich - Stansted Airport.
Network Rail staff are on site, with specialist staff en route and looking to rectify the fault.  Greater Anglia tickets are being accepted on East Midlands Railway and Cross Country services between Ely and Peterborough.
