A person has been hit by a train between Stevenage and Peterborough. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised to start / terminate at Huntingdon until approximately 04:00.
Customer Advice:
Your journey on Thameslink services on the Peterborough route is likely to be severely disrupted.
Trains towards Peterborough are likely to terminate at Hitchin, and will not serve stations between there and Peterborough.
We don't have an exact estimate for the delay at the moment, but you will need to use replacement buses, which will take at least 30-45 minutes longer than your usual journey, and possibly more.
These buses are already running due to urgent repairs to level crossing barriers near Sandy. The bus times are shown on journey planners.
You'll be able to see further updates on this page, so please continue to check back here.
If you're waiting on a train which is delayed between stations:
If your train is delayed between stations, please remain where you are and listen to announcements, or speak to staff for further information. Thameslink will get you moving as soon as possible. They're are aware of your location, and our teams will be doing everything they can to help you continue your journey.
Please don't leave the train unless you are asked to do so. Other trains may still be moving in the area, and the track is also a very hazardous environment.
