A fault with the signalling system at Earlestown is causing disruption to journeys running between Newton-le-Willows and Warrington Bank Quay. As a result, trains may be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until 08:00.
Advice for Northern customers:
The route between Manchester and Liverpool via St Helens Junction / Warrington Central is unaffected. Ticket restrictions have been lifted for you to use an alternative Northern service to help with your journey.
Alternatively you may use your ticket on Transport for Wales services between Earlestown and Chester. Please note, these services are also experiencing disruption.
Replacement road transport has been requested. Details of bus times and routes will follow once this has been confirmed.
Journey times will be extended by 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
Advice for Transport for Wales customers:
Services will run only between Holyhead / Llandudno and Warrington Bank Quay.
To assist you with your journey replacement road transport has been sourced with Keanes Coaches between Warrington Bank Quay and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions.
