Customer Advice
There have been multiple axle counter failures between Lowestoft and Norwich overnight and Network Rails attempt to reset them have been unsuccessful thus far. This has complicated engineering work that was supposed to take place last night, and Network Rail are in the process of arranging a specialist response team.
This problems affects the following routes;
- Lowestoft - Norwich
- Great Yarmouth - Norwich via Berney Arms only (trains via Acle are unaffected)
- Lowestoft - Ipswich may also be affected because of crewing problems and trains unable to run from our depot in Norwich
What is an Axle Counter?
Axle counters make up part of the signalling system. They count the number of train wheels through a section of track. This data can provide speed, direction of travel and the time it takes for the train to travel.
