An obstruction on the track between Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled or revised. This is expected until the end of the day.

Northern Customer Advice:

Train services are currently unable to run between Huyton and Wigan North Western in both directions. Where possible, services will divert via an alternative route but will not be able to call at stations between Huyton and Wigan North Western.

Road transport is in operation between Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western.

Journey times will be extended by 60 minutes whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.

TransPennine Express Customer Advice:

Road replacement transport is being requested to run in both directions between Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western. Customers can also use their tickets on the following alternative train services:

• TransPennine Express from Preston to Lockerbie on the 19:04 departure from Preston
• Avanti West Coast from Preston to Glasgow Central on the 19:42 departure from Preston
• Avanti West Coast from Carlisle to Wigan North Western on the 21:25 departure from Carlisle. At Wigan North Western, road replacement transport will convey customers to Liverpool Lime Street
