A fault with the signalling system and urgent repairs to the track at Market Harborough means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised. This is expected until 13:30.
What has happened?
There are urgent repairs to the track taking place at Market Harborough. This is between Kettering and Leicester and is disrupting our trains on the Intercity route. Network Rail have a team on site who are working to fix the problem. Trains are unable to travel on the normal line due to this work taking place and so the trains need to be diverted until the issue is resolved. The diversion means that trains are unable to call at Market Harborough in the Northbound direction. This is causing issues in both directions now as services are being altered due to significant delays in both directions.
Â
How does this affect my train?
Trains running through the area in the Nottingham/ Sheffield direction are being diverted and cannot call at Market Harborough. There are also delays of up to 30 minutes affecting these services. Trains running through the area in the London St Pancras direction can call at Market Harborough at the moment but due to trains running late in the opposite direction, some trains are also delayed as a result and are also being cancelled early so please check your journey and allow for delays of up to 30 minutes. There is also congestion in the area which is adding to delays. At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next 3 hours. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 13:30.
