Unavailability of train crew between Hitchin and Peterborough means a reduced service between these stations. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Customer Advice
Due to availability of train crew, fewer trains than usual will run between London St Pancras and Peterborough until the end of the day. Journeys to/from stations between Arlesey and Peterborough will be impacted the most by this. The most significant service gaps will be as follows:
London to Peterborough:
Peterborough to London:
Please check your journey before you travel this afternoon and evening. If your planned service is cancelled, we would advise that you take an earlier or later train instead.Â
If you do travel at your intended time and your service is cancelled, then your journey will take at least 60 minutes longer than normal, so allow plenty of extra time. You may need to use an alternative route, change trains or use a replacement bus in order to complete your journey.Â
Replacement buses have been requested, and we will advertise them where they are confirmed. However, please note that these will be limited and are expected to be very busy, and may take longer than waiting for the next available train service.Â
Tickets will be accepted on any alternative Great Northern or Thameslink service via any reasonable route, including Thameslink services to/from Bedford. Â
Can you tell me more about the incident?
Industrial action (in the form of an overtime ban) this week means that we have fewer drivers available to drive our trains than usual. Whilst we are running a reduced timetable to account for this, a substantial shortage of drivers that can drive on our route to/from Peterborough means that there are a significant number of additional cancellations on this route for the rest of the day.
