A fault with the signalling system between Chesterfield and Sheffield means all lines are disrupted. As a result, trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 15 minutes.

This is expected until 21:30.

What has happened?

There is a fault with the signalling system at Chesterfield between Chesterfield and Sheffield disrupting trains on the Sheffield/London and Sheffield/Nottingham/Norwich routes.

Network Rail are currently investigating the problem. Trains can run at reduced speed.

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area in both directions will be delayed by 10-15 minutes between Chesterfield and Sheffield.

Our 20:29 Sheffield to London St Pancras International has been restarted from Chesterfield being cancelled between Sheffield and Chesterfield. You may use your ticket on the 20:54 Sheffield to Bristol Temple Meads and change at Derby to connect with this train.

At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next hour. As soon as the problem is fixed the priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 21:30.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by up to 15 minutes. We are sorry for the delay to your journey today.

As it is late in the day the number of connecting trains are limited. If you have already started your journey, every effort will be made to get you to your destination by rail. If not, alternative arrangements will be made for you. Please speak to a member of the team if you are concerned about your connecting journey.
