Customer Adviceâââââââ
Trains towards London are not stopping at Brookmans Park and Harringay
At Brookmans Park
Trains in the other direction towards Welwyn Garden City are not impacted and are able to stop normally.
If you are at Brookmans Park and are travelling towards London please cross over to platform 4, take the first train towards Welwyn Garden City, and change at Hatfield for a train back towards London. Leave some extra time for your trip towards London, as taking the above route via Hatfield may add up to 20 minutes extra to your journey time.
If you are getting on a train at Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, or Welham Green, and want to go to Brookmans Park, please travel to Potters Bar instead. When you get to Potters Bar make your way to platform 4 where trains back towards Brookmans Park are running normally.
At Harringay
Trains travelling away from London towards both Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City are stopping normally. If you're travelling towards Finsbury Park or Moorgate you'll need to go to Hornsey and cross over to platform 1 for a train back towards London.
If you're coming to Harringay from a station between Welwyn and Hornsey, or between Hertford North and Hornsey, you'll need to stay on the train and get off at Finsbury Park instead. Change platform at Finsbury Park and take any train back towards Harringay.
Both of the above may add up to 20 minutes extra to your journey so leave some extra time.
What's happening?
At Brookmans Park and Harringay our trains are too long for the platform in the London bound direction. To get around this, and to allow trains to stop safely, a piece of equipment known as a "beacon" enables the doors that are on the platform when the train arrives to open whilst keeping the doors that are not on the platform locked shut. On the train you'll usually hear an announcement asking you make sure you're in the correct carriage and to move towards the front or back of the train if you need to get off.
The beacons on platform 1 at both Brookmans Park and Harringay aren't working properly. Trains can't safely stop until these beacons are repaired. Network Rail are aware and will attend both stations tonight. We've been told that trains should be able to call normally tomorrow morning when the first trains run.
