Planning your journey:
Please check journey planners and station information boards before you travel, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
Live departure boards can be found here and you can check our live map here to see if your journey has been affected.
You can also use the Southern app to find up-to-date travel information.
If you're waiting on a train which is delayed between stations:
If your train is delayed between stations, please stay on board and listen for updates. You can also ask staff if you need more information. Staff know where you are and are working to get you moving as soon as possible.
For your safety, please donât leave the train unless instructed. Other trains may still be running, and the tracks can be very dangerous. If the area has an electric third rail, it stays live even during delays and looks just like the other rails.
Can you tell me more about the incident?
Southern have been told that a road vehicle has struck a railway bridge in this area.
There will be a speed restriction for trains travelling through the area, so your journey will take longer than usual. Southern may not be able to tell you the exact delay until your train has passed the bridge, but teams will do their best to keep you informed.
Network Rail will be sending engineers as quickly as possible to check the bridge for any damage, and if it's safe to do so, trains will be allowed to run at their usual speeds.
If you see a vehicle hitting a bridge, or you think a bridge has been damaged, please report it using the phone number on the identification plate fixed to the bridge. If no plate is provided, please report it to the police by calling 999.
