Industrial action has been announced on the following dates:
- Saturday 26 August (RMT Union)
- Friday 1 September (ASLEF Union)
- Saturday 2 September (RMT Union)
Transport for Wales are not involved in the industrial action, but some services will be impacted by the strikes affecting other train operators. Some Transport for Wales trains will be busier than usual and the following Transport for Wales services will be disrupted:
RMT Union - Saturday 26 August and Saturday 2 September
Changes to early morning services (before 07:00) and evening services (after 19:00):
- Cheltenham/Gloucester services will start and terminate at Lydney.
- Birmingham services will start and terminate at Birmingham New Street and will not call at Wolverhampton or Birmingham International.
- North Wales coast - Manchester services will start and terminate at Chester. (No services between Chester and Manchester).
- South Wales - Manchester services will start and terminate at Nantwich (No services between Nantwich - Crewe - Manchester Piccadilly).
- Liverpool Lime Street - Chester services will not run.
Services affected all day:
- South Wales to Manchester Piccadilly trains will set down only at Stockport (due to overcrowding concerns) and will not stop at Wilmslow.
- Manchester Piccadilly to South Wales trains will pick up only at Stockport (due to overcrowding concerns) and will not stop at Wilmslow.
- North Wales coast - Manchester Piccadilly trains will not call at Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Bank Quay.
ASLEF Union - Friday 1 September:
Services will be extremely busy especially with various events taking place across the network. Please, where possible, fold down pushchairs and book assistance in advance. Also keep luggage to a minimum and use the storage space provided.
Transport for Wales services will run as timetabled however the following routes will be busier than usual:
- Cardiff - Gloucester - CheltenhamÂ
- Cardiff - Shrewsbury - Manchester
- Carmarthen - Severn Tunnel Junction
- Holyhead - Manchester Piccadilly
- Shrewsbury - Birmingham International
- Shrewsbury - Chester - Holyhead
