Heavy rain has flooded the railway at Darwen. This means that services running between Bolton and Blackburn are unable to operate, and will be cancelled or revised.

This issue is expected to continue to affect services for the remainder of the day.

Customer advice:

Rail replacement transport will operate as follows:

• 20:30 from Blackburn to Clitheroe (calling at all stations)
• 20:30 from Clitheroe to Manchester Victoria (calling at all stations)
• 20:45 from Manchester Victoria to Darwen (calling at all stations, then as required to Clitheroe)

Please note, journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when travelling using rail replacement transport.

Network Rail engineers are en route to the area to assess the extent of the flooding.
