Following a road vehicle colliding with a bridge at Hitchin, trains are now able to run at line speed through this station. Whilst service recovers, journey may be delayed by up to 10 minutes.
We expect this to continue until 12:00.
Customer Advice:
Some trains have been delayed by up to 10 minutes in the Hitchin area. This has affected Thameslink and Great Northern services, as well as some long-distance trains.
However, trains can now return to their normal speeds through the area, so further trains should be able to run normally.
You will be able to use your normal route for your journey, but please be aware of the disruption and check a journey planner to see if your train has been affected.
Can you tell me more about the incident?
Earlier today, staff received a report of a lorry hitting a railway bridge near Hitchin, which meant that trains had to run at reduced speeds through the area. Network Rail staff have now attended and inspected the bridge, which has been declared safe to use normally.
