Halloween 2024 Prize Draw Terms and Conditions

1.    The Promoter of this prize draw is Grand Central Rail of 20 George Hudson Street in York, North Yorkshire, YO24 1AB.

2.    The prize draw is open to all UK residents aged 18 years or over, except employees of the Promoter, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the prize draw.

3.    The prize draw is free to enter and no purchase is necessary; however, internet access and your own genuine personal Instagram or Facebook account is required.

4.    All entries must be submitted by either;
a.    following the Promoter’s Instagram page (@grandcentralrail) and commenting on the Promoter’s Instagram post advertising entry to this prize draw, tagging a friend and stating your favourite Halloween activity; or
b.    following the Promoter’s Facebook page (Grand Central Rail) and commenting on the Promoter’s Facebook post advertising entry to this prize draw, tagging a friend and stating your favourite Halloween activity.

5.    Only one entry per person is permitted. 

6.    The opening date for entries is 12pm on 14/10/2024. The closing date of the prize draw is 12pm on 18/10/2024. Entries received after this time will not be considered or valid.

7.    The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.

8.    There will be one (1) winner of this prize draw who will be chosen by a random draw performed by a computer process after 12pm on 18/10/2024.

9.    The winner will receive four Standard Class Grand Central Rail return tickets for travel between any of Grand Central’s station stops (as long as they are on the same route): Bradford Interchange, Low Moor, Halifax, Brighouse, Mirfield, Wakefield Kirkgate, Pontefract Monkhill, Doncaster, London Kings Cross, York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Eaglescliffe, Hartlepool and Sunderland. These four tickets can only be used between 26/10/2024 and 03/11/2024 and all travel is subject to availability and the National Rail Conditions of Travel https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/travel-information/your-rights-and-obligations-as-a-passenger.

10.    Any costs incidental to the fulfilment of a prize, other than the delivery of such by post, to the winner in accordance with these conditions is the responsibility of the winner.

11.    The winner will be notified by a direct message to the Instagram or Facebook account used to enter this prize draw before 6pm on 18/10/2024. The winner must provide a postal address to claim their prize by replying to the Promoter’s message notifying them of their win within 3 days , otherwise the winner's prize will be forfeited and the Promoter will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above.

12.    The prize will be sent to the winner by post within 3 days of the Promoter receiving the winner’s postal address in accordance with condition 11.

13.    The prize for the winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.

14.    The Promoter reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so. 

15.    The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it. 

16.    The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation, the Promoter will send the surname and county of major prize winners and, if applicable copies of their winning entries, to anyone who emails customer.services@grandcentralrail.com or writes to Customer Relations Manager, Grand Central Rail, Ground Floor, Wakefield Kirkgate Station, Monk Street, Wakefield, WF1 4EL (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month after the closing date stated in condition 6. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the Promoter via Instagram or Facebook direct messenger. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

17.    Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions. 

18.    The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.

19.    Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

20.    Personal data provided by you in entering this prize draw will be processed by the Promoter for the purpose of administering the prize draw.

21.    Personal data supplied during the course of this prize draw will be passed on to third party suppliers only insofar as required for fulfilment/delivery/arrangement of the prize.

23.    The prize draw is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Instagram or Facebook and Instagram and Facebook have no liability whatsoever in respect of these terms and conditions nor the prize draw to which they relate.

24.    These terms and conditions and this promotion are governed by English law. If any entrants to this promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts in the United Kingdom.
