A fault with the signalling system at Edge Hill means that fewer trains are able to run on all lines. As a result, trains running through this station will be cancelled, delayed or terminated at and started back from Preston.

Disruption is expected until 18:00.

Customer advice:

Network Rail are aware of the fault and engineers are on site.

The following services will be disrupted in both directions:

  • Liverpool Lime Street - Wigan North Western services have been withdrawn
  • Liverpool Lime Street - Blackpool North services will call at all stations between Liverpool Lime Street - Preston then terminate and start back from Preston

Ticket acceptance:

You may use your Northern ticket, at no extra cost, with the following operators via any reasonable route:

  • Any alternative Northern services
  • TransPennine Express
  • Merseyrail

Alternative travel suggestions:

Liverpool Lime Street - Manchester Airport services via Newton le Willows are not impacted by this incident and will run as normal.

Liverpool Lime Street - Warrington Central - Manchester Oxford Road services are not impacted by this incident and will run as normal.
