Can you tell me more about the incident?

There is a fault with the signalling system in the Bedhampton area. Rather than the signals working automatically, trains are having to be 'talked past' 3 of them, causing delays as this has to be done at a slower speed for safety reasons. Southern are unable to run all of their trains in this area as the delays would cause large scale congestion and disrupt the services even more than at present.

Network Rail engineers are currently investigating the reason for this fault.
