A broken down train between Middlesborough and Sunderland / Darlington means that some lines are currently closed.

Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes, revised or diverted.

Disruption is expected until 18:00.

If you are at Newcastle requiring stations between Newcastle and Middlesbrough (via Hartlepool) you are advised to travel to Thornaby, and then board the next available service to Newcastle via Hartlepool from there.

Rail replacement transport has been confirmed to operate as follows:

  • A rail replacement vehicle will depart Newcastle at 15:45, and will call all stations to Middlesbrough (operated by Jim Hughes)
  • A rail replacement vehicle will depart Hartlepool at 16:10, and will call at all stations to Middlesbrough (operated by Jim Hughes)

Please note, journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when travelling using rail replacement transport.
