Customer Advice

Southern services may have delays of around 5-10 minutes between Pevensey & Westham and Bexhill. There is a fault with the barriers at Wallsend Level Crossing, near Pevensey Bay.

A few late-running trains may not stop at all the usual stations en route, which means you may need to change trains more often to reach your destination. This will make sure Southern minimise congestion this morning. However, if you need to do this, your journey could take around 20 minutes longer than usual.

Please listen carefully to announcements and check station screens when travelling.

You will still be able to use your normal route at the moment.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Earlier today, we were advised of a problem with the barriers at Wallsend Level Crossing. This will cause delays to your journey in this area.

Although there's a fault, Southern can still run your train, but it will take longer to get to your destination.

Trains will need to stop on the approach to the crossing, and drivers will then get verbal instructions to continue. They will travel at slower speeds so that they can see anything which may be obstructing them.

Southern are working closely with Network Rail to ensure the barriers are fixed and trains can return to their normal speeds as soon as possible.
