A safety inspection of the track between Blackburn and Preston is causing disruption to journeys between these stations.

Services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

We anticipate disruption will continue until 18:30.

Effect on service:

Services between York and Blackpool North and services between Colne and Preston are currently facing disruption, Network Rail are on site now and are looking to resolve the problem.

York to Blackpool North services where possible will divert and call at all booked stations, if train crew route knowledge doesn't allow this they will start / terminate at Blackburn.

Colne to Preston services, where train crew knowledge allows, will continue to call at all stations except Lostock Hall.

Alternative travel suggestions:

All ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.

Customers at Blackpool North requiring stations to Leeds and York may use alternative Northern services via Manchester stations.

Customers at Blackburn requiring Preston, can use Northern services to Bolton, where they can connect with Northern services to Preston.

Customers at Lostock Hall who require Preston, please board a service to Blackburn, where onward connections can be made to Preston.

Customers who require Lostock Hall, please travel to Preston and board services towards Colne, which continue to call at all stations.

Please allow extra time to complete your journey.
