A safety inspection of the track in the Forest Hill area is causing disruption to journeys between New Cross Gate and East Croydon via Norwood Junction. As a result, trains may be delayed.

This is expected until 14:00.

Customer Advice

If you're travelling on a Southern or Thameslink service from London Bridge towards Norwood Junction and East Croydon, your journey time could be extended by up to 10 minutes. You don't need to do anything differently at this time, however, please bear this in mind if you're travelling through this part of the railway.

Which services are affected specifically?

  • London Bridge to Caterham (the ones that run non-stop to East Croydon)
  • London Bridge to Uckfield
  • Thameslink services between London Bridge and East Croydon

 

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Network Rail has been advised of a possible track defect in the Forest Hill area, affecting one of the southbound lines. Track engineers are making their way to the location reported and are expected to arrive by 1pm to carry out an assessment.

Until further notice, it's necessary for trains to move slower than usual at a temporary speed of 20mph through Forest Hill station. Southern and Thameslink will let you know once they have more information.
