Grand Central celebrates first anniversary of direct trains to London from Low Moor station

Grand Central Rail is celebrating the first anniversary of the addition of Low Moor station to its West Riding route.

In the 12 months since the station opened, more than 10,000 Grand Central customers have travelled from Low Moor station. A total of 2,800 Grand Central services have called at the newly regenerated station near Bradford, which offers direct trains to London Kings Cross.

The re-opening of Low Moor station after more than 50 years since it closed, has improved connectivity for passengers and offers greater accessibility to the capital for the immediate and wider community. The station is conveniently located close to the M62 motorway and offers 120 parking spaces, which are free to rail users.

The first anniversary coincides with Grand Central’s exciting £9m investment programme, including the refurbishment of its Adelante fleet of trains. The interior and exterior overhaul of the trains will include new seats with leather edging in standard class, new floor covering throughout, exterior and interior repaint, upgraded catering facilities, refitted toilet facilities with disabled access and baby changing facilities.

The on board upgrade will also include energy efficient LED lighting, and power sockets for charging mobile phones, laptops and other electrical devices.
