Additional trains - Checkatrade Trophy Final
Due to extremely high levels of demand, all Grand Central services across the weekend will be at full capacity. Therefore if you do not already have a ticket, seek alternative travel arrangements. If you have a ticket but not a seat reservation, a queueing system will be in place at Sunderland (Saturday 30th March) and London Kings Cross (Monday 1st April) to control access to the platforms – please arrive in plenty of time and be prepared to potentially queue for a long period of time. Grand Central staff will be available on the day to assist you and answer any queries.
Additional relief services have been added:
- Saturday 30th March: Departing Sunderland at 08:44 to London King’s Cross
- Monday 1st April: Departing London King’s Cross at 12:21 to Sunderland
Dedicated reservations will not be available on either of these services, but seats will be available on a first-come-first served basis for those passengers with Grand Central tickets and not currently holding seat reservations for other trains.
Our 08:28 and 12:18 southbound services on the Saturday 30th March and the 11:27 and 12:57 northbound services on Monday 1st April are the most popular journeys for customers with flexible tickets. We strongly advise passengers to check the Grand Central help centre for travel advice:
Travelling from Sunderland – 30th March
Passengers with seat reservations are to use the South Concourse (Ticket Office entrance).
Passengers without seat reservations are to join the queuing system at the North Concourse entrance (Union Street). Please note that we cannot guarantee that you will depart on your preferred service.
Passengers that still need to collect tickets from the ticket office or ticket machines at Sunderland, please ensure you collect them before Saturday 30 March to avoid delays.
All Grand Central services across the weekend will be exceptionally busy and therefore we strongly advise passengers who have not yet bought tickets not to travel without a seat reservation.
