Grand Central is an open-access train operator linking the North East and West Yorkshire with London. We are part of Arriva which has a diverse portfolio of train and bus operating companies in the UK and Europe.

We run 18 trains per day and are one of the UK’s leading train operators, one of the country’s highest customer satisfaction scores in the National Rail Passenger Survey and Which? Magazine rail customer survey.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven placement student to work in our Performance team in York as a Performance Analyst. The successful candidate will report to the Performance Manager and will also work closely alongside the Planning team as well as others from the wider business.

As a Performance Analyst, you will support the delivery of Grand Central’s performance strategy, through the timely and accurate collation and analysis of performance data as well as ensuring that Grand Central’s interest are protected within the rail industry’s Schedule 8 Performance Regime as well as representing Grand Central at regional networks and to external stakeholders such as Network Rail.

You will also be responsible for recording and monitoring actions arising from post-incident reviews and drafting the Performance News internal communications as required.

Requirements

- Working towards a degree in an analytical or transport discipline (transport and logistics, engineering, economics, business, finance)
- Skills in analysis, planning, implementation and review
- Be competent in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
