In aid of the Lighthouse Group, Grand Central has organised a fantastic family event on-board the ghost train. Join us for an evening of ghostly goings-on, spooky tales, scary songs and frightening fun!

Last year’s event was a sold-out success, so get your tickets early and for a night of dressing up and family fun. Food and drink is included in the ticket price, but there will also be a licensed bar selling treats, snacks and real ale on-board.

Pontefract based Haribo have kindly offered to sponsor the Ghost Train, so there will be plenty of sweet treats on board for families to enjoy.

Join us, if you dare, at the Great Victoria Hotel, Bradford for a spooktacular Halloween Ball from 4.30pm, or simply board the train at Bradford Interchange, Halifax or Brighouse for a return train trip to Doncaster.

The horrible history of the Grand Central Ghost Train

One cold night in October, many years ago, the express service from Bradford to London Kings Cross was accidentally sent along a disused and overgrown line. It did not stop, no one could contact anyone on board, and the train was never heard from again. A search team was sent, but neither the train, nor any of its passengers could be found.

Months later an elderly gentleman out walking his dog came across the mangled train tangled in the undergrowth. No trace of the former passengers remained. Investigators could find no explanation, and as more and more terrifying ghostly sightings were reported, the investigation was quickly closed and the reports destroyed. Over the years brave souls have re-created the route of the train that fateful night and have barely escaped with their lives.

On 27th and 28th October 2011, the train will reappear, with its only desire - to run its doomed journey of that cold October night and to harvest the lost spirits of the area, for their final return…
