Throughout April 2012 and particularly at weekends, Network Rail is undertaking engineering work on various sections of the lines between the north of England and London. This means all trains running on the affected routes will be disrupted in some way. This might only involve slightly retimed services, but in some cases could involve Grand Central passengers changing trains at Peterborough or Doncaster, with longer than normal journey times. All the details, including amended timetables are available to view and download here. We urge those of you whoa re intending to travel during April to visit this page to check the details before you travel. This disruption will also affect passengers who use other rail companies including East Coast to travel to and from London during April.

New ‘West Riding’ serviceNext year Grand Central will add a range of destinations to its growing network when it launches a brand new service from the West Riding of Yorkshire to London. The ‘West Riding’ service will offer three return trains a day between Bradford Interchange and London King’s Cross. The new service will operate via Halifax, Brighouse (for Huddersfield), Wakefield Kirkgate, Pontefract Monkhill and Doncaster; restoring direct rail links to London from these West Riding communities for the first time in many years and creating brand new journey opportunities for those who want to travel to Europe by rail, via the adjacent Eurostar station at St Pancras. Our new acquired 125mph high quality trains will also offer improved connections for passengers travelling to the North of England or Scotland, via the major railway interchange at Doncaster. Grand Central’s West Riding service will offer a range of simple and affordable fares that have already proven successful on our existing route between London, North Yorkshire and the Durham Coast We are currently awaiting finalisation of the timetable for our West Riding services by Network Rail. Once this and other contractual arrangements have been agreed we will be in a position to announce the start date for our West Riding services so please bookmark this page. Grand Central’s West Riding services will operate on a fully commercial basis, without any Government subsidy or tax payer support. |
