Monday 2nd August 2010 The 1127 service from Kings Cross to Sunderland is very busy, passengers with Grand Central tickets, but without seat reservations may prefer to travel on the 0818 service from Kings Cross to Sunderland which currently has plenty of seating available.

£7m Sunderland station refurbishment enters final phaseWork to completely refurbish platform areas at Sunderland railway station enters its final phase on Monday 21 June. This will sees the north end of the station re-opened, letting passengers see the major improvements made, including the new open-plan staircase. Platform allocations and walking routes around the station have changed, please allow extra time to reach your platform and follow instructions from on train staff to ensure you alight from the correct part of the train.
